History Of The Artefact:
The first practical and commercially successful Threshing Machine was built by Scotland’s Andrew Meikle in 1786.
Some of his machines were exported to the United States. The first one in Canada was purchased in New York by Daniel Massey in 1830.
By 1852, threshing machines were being built on Prince Edward Island. The first machines consisted of a tooth drum rotating at high speed. As a sheaf was slowly fed in, the teeth separated the grain from the chaff and straw.
