Cardigan River Heritage Centre
The village of Cardigan is rich in history. It was a main shipbuilding community in the 17th and 18th century.
The purpose of the Cardigan Heritage Centre is to bring alive to all of us, the history of this area. They are attempting to do this by choosing four themes that tie all the Cardigan Consolidated School Districts together. The four themes are as follows; Community, Shipbuilding, Farming and Fishing. They are located on the beautiful Cardigan River on 4545 Wharf Road, route 321 in Cardigan, Prince Edward Island. You can reach them at (1-902) 583-2253.
There is no admittance fee; however donations would be greatly appreciated to assist with further development.
The Cardigan Heritage Centre also offers a wide variety of information in their research room which is open for the public to study and learn from. Photocopying is available on the premises, ask a member of the staff for assistance.
