History Of The Artefact:
The earliest known production dates of this Remington Standard Typewriter No. 6, are from 1890 to 1895.
This Remington Standard Typewriter No. 6 is made of Metal; black in color, it has 40 keys with white background, 10 in each of 4 rows. In front of the base just under the keys "Remington Standard Typewriter No. 6" is painted in gold lettering. The area above the keys is open exposing the metal shafts that control the keys.
Remington was one of the first companies to develop a practical machine, their model #1 came on to the market in 1874. Model #6 came out in 1894, advertised as having improved spacing mechanism, paper carriage, ribbon movement, cylinder alignment, and adjustable paper guides. This typewriter remained a popular model for many years".
