Garden of the Gulf Museum
The historic island sandstone building that now houses the museum was originally the post office in the town of Montague on the Eastern end of PEI. During the 1950's the building was made into a museum and houses many unique treasures of the town of Montague. The surrounding scenic area of the museum looks out over the Montague harbor and waling trails.
The museum has three floors to explore and a research / genealogy center. Families can trace their roots by exploring extensive family history binders, church records, microfilm, military photos and local school year books. Find out what the town of Montague looked like during the late 1800's and how much has changed over the years. There are also many different exhibits to explore from ship building to military to the history of horse races on PEI.
The Garden of the Gulf Museum has many unique artefacts and also a very knowledgeable and friendly staff who can also put you in contact with local historians.
