Sir Andrew Macphail Homestead & Forestry Conservation Centre
This site was made famous thanks to the work of Sir Andrew Macphail who contributed greatly to this islands heritage. By preserving his birthplace as an educational facility and interpretive center you can step back in time and enjoy the tranquil surroundings of a by-gone era. Take a guided tour with an historical interpreter to learn more about the artefacts on display and the many unique pieces of our heritage found on the property. You can also enjoy a meal and tea on the porch or enjoy a walk through the trails.
Sir Andrew Macphail was born in 1864 and was educated locally at the Uigg School and later at the Prince of Wales College in Charlottetown. He received his degree in medicine from McGill University in Montreal, where he later became the first professor of the History of Medicine and the editor of the Canadian Journal of Medicine.
